John,
I’m absolutely delighted to share our latest project with you. Pride & Progress: A history of LGBTQ political power in the United States and the LGBTQ Victory Hall of Fame [[link removed]] , is now live! Click here to see highlights from decades of LGBTQ political power, and learn about our LGBTQ Victory Hall of Fame. [[link removed]]
This project is one of the first to preserve and honor LGBTQ political history. Our staff has been working overtime for the last several months to shine a light on the LGBTQ icons, historic victories and people behind the scenes that dedicated their time and efforts to preserving LGBTQ equality. From the founding of Victory Fund 30 years ago, to victories that shattered lavender ceilings, to moments that honored our community’s progress, this timeline has something for everyone to enjoy – and hopefully, you’ll learn something new!
As I read through all the major events of the last several decades, I was struck by how far the LGBTQ community has come. Each of these out elected officials honored on the timeline represents our growing political power – and the increasing acceptance of LGBTQ lives. We must keep building on our progress – if you can donate and keep our essential work going, I appreciate it. [[link removed]]
I hope you can sit down and scroll through the website today. We’ll continue to update as we achieve more LGBTQ history.
Thanks for taking the time,
Mayor Annise Parker
