In June, the House passed the Washington, D.C. Admissions Act: Historic legislation to designate Washington, D.C. as the 51st state.
And now, with Democratic control of the Senate, we have a real opportunity to make D.C. a state and bring TRUE representation to the more than 700,000 residents of the district.
But we want to hear from our top supporters: Should the District of Columbia become the 51st state?

Today, residents of D.C. pay taxes to the federal government but have no say in how those tax dollars are spent. They abide by the laws of this country but have no representative or senators to debate and vote on those laws before they are passed. Statehood would change that.
Washington, D.C. has more residents than Wyoming or Vermont—yet the district has no voting representation because of outdated, Reconstruction-era policy rooted in racism.
