Friend —

When President Biden took office, the state of our reproductive freedom was in crisis:

  • The former administration did immeasurable damage by blocking access to contraception and funding for healthcare clinics.
  • Twelve states exploited the COVID-19 pandemic as an excuse to try to fully ban abortion.
  • The Senate confirmed an extreme anti-choice Justice days before the election -- giving us the most radically conservative Supreme Court in a generation.

The past three decades have shown an increasing anti-choice escalation, with hundreds of restrictive, anti-choice bans signed into law, effectively making the constitutional right to an abortion entirely theoretical to millions of people.

After 100 days of the Biden Harris Administration’s leadership, we see some progress on policies and programs that help families flourish, but there's still significant work to do.

Highlights from the first 100 days:

 DONE:

The Biden Harris Administration immediately addressed key priorities, strengthening reproductive freedom:
  • Repealed the "Global Gag Rule"
  • Established a White House Gender Policy Council
  • Provided Relief from the COVID-19 Pandemic
  • Appointed Diverse Judges
  • Removed Barriers to Medication Abortion During the Pandemic

PENDING:

The Biden Harris Administration may have taken preliminary action or signaled support on key issues, they must prioritize policies to:
  • Remove the Domestic Gag Rule in Title X Family Planning Funding Program
  • Provide Paid Family Leave
  • Make Childcare Accessible
  • Address Black Maternal Health
  • Reduce Child Poverty

 NOT YET DONE:

Reproductive freedom is absolutely in danger. The Biden Harris Administration must urgently implement key policy and legislative priorities to:
  • Pass the Women's Health Protection Act
  • Introduce a Presidential Budget without the Hyde Amendment
  • Create a Pre-clearance Program for Anti-Choice State Laws
  • Make Abortion Medication Accessible Permanently
  • End the Filibuster
Check out the full Progress Report to learn about the importance of these priorities.

How we can help:

The most important action we can take to protect and expand reproductive freedom is to vote for prochoice candidates in every election, everywhere.

While President Biden can make meaningful progress from the White House, states across the country are obsessively dismantling our right to reproductive freedom. Our now extreme, anti-choice Supreme Court could decide to uphold just one of these horrifying laws, and we could lose everything.

That's why the work at #VOTEPROCHOICE is laser-focused on researching every race possible and supporting prochoice candidates at every turn. Because every elected official -- from city hall to the state house -- must be a prochoice champion to truly protect reproductive freedom.

Please consider contributing to our work as we identify and support prochoice, progressive candidates running at every level.
