Friend,
The Trump administration mismanaged the US Census, which is a crucial process in making sure people get counted and then have political representation.
This has resulted in a severe undercount of people in cities like Detroit and Flint, as well as major cities across the country. Now, we’ve learned that as a result of the census count, Michigan will lose a congressional seat in the 2022 election.
This means that we must start preparing for my reelection right now, just in case.
Can you make a contribution before midnight tonight to help us meet our end-of-month fundraising goals and prepare for the reelection fight ahead?

Representation matters. This means ensuring that my district―the third poorest congressional district in the country―receives the resources we need to not just survive, but thrive. So, even as congressional lines will shift, I will continue to fight for my neighbors and our communities.
Check out the email below for more details on how losing a congressional seat will impact our movement for justice and equity. And then chip in before midnight tonight.
Always serving you,
Rashida

Friend,
This week we learned that while states like Texas and Florida will gain congressional seats in the 2022 election, Michigan will lose a seat.
Michigan’s congressional districts will be redrawn by a nonpartisan commission and we won’t know for some time what the map will look like. But we do know that at least one member of Michigan’s congressional delegation won’t be returning to Congress in 2023.
We need to have Rashida’s back and start preparing for her reelection now. We can’t afford to lose her leadership and her voice in the fight for working people and marginalized communities. Donate today to prepare for the fight ahead.
Representation matters. That’s why Rashida fought to ensure as many people as possible took the census last year, which determines how many people live in places and therefore how many people represent them in the federal government. It also affects resource allocation.
After the Trump administration botched the census and severely undercounted major cities across the country, including Detroit, Rashida took action. She led a bicameral (House and Senate) letter to the Trump administration’s Census Director expressing concerns and raised alarms about the process.
And, even as it’s clear that Michiganders will lose one seat in Congress, Rashida is fighting to ensure that this does not result in a reduction of services and resources for her residents.
Now, we have to make sure she doesn't lose her seat. She's been a necessary bold voice for the transformational change we urgently need.
Let’s not lose a founding member of the Squad just as we’re building our collective power, together.
Donate today to Rashida’s reelection campaign to ensure that, even as Michigan loses a congressional seat, we keep Rashida’s voice and vision in Congress.

Thank you for always having Rashida’s back,
