Dear John,

This week the Senate voted to overturn damaging Trump policies that weakened — and in some cases eliminated altogether — requirements that oil and natural gas companies limit methane, as well as smog-forming pollution from their operations.

How did your Senators vote? You can find out and either thank them for supporting common sense clean air protections, or voice your concern for their inaction. [link removed]

This vote was a critical first step in clearing a thicket of legal and bureaucratic red tape that hinders the Biden-Harris administration from enacting sensible safeguards for one of the most powerful climate pollutants — methane.

Methane emissions are responsible for at least 25% of the warming we experience today, and cutting them carries outsized benefits for the climate. In fact new research released this week found addressing methane could have a huge impact in reducing the warming we see in the next few decades.

Reducing methane pollution from the oil and gas industry is efficient, cost-effective, and also cuts local air pollution for the millions of Americans who live near oil and gas operations. By combating these outdated and dangerous rules, the Senate has restored critical protections and cleared the way for the EPA to adopt next-generation methane standards and hold polluters accountable.

Did your Senators work to reduce methane emissions that drive climate change? Find out here. [link removed]

Thanks to our leaders in the Senate, we are one step closer to advancing federal policy that will reduce harmful air pollution and conserve American energy resources. Now we look to the House to officially get regulation of methane from the oil and gas industry back on track.

Thank you for raising your voice!
