John,
In the United States our broken justice system imprisons people of color at more than five times the rate of white people.
A person of color is more likely to receive a criminal record from marijuana sale or use, solely based on the color of their skin. A criminal record, no matter how small, can change the trajectory of your whole life: your education, your career, your future family.
The legalization of marijuana is an issue of injustice and inequality.
I introduced a bill in the Montana House to right this wrong and to expunge all records of criminal violations pertaining solely to marijuana. I will keep fighting this fight.
But we need action now.
11 states legalized recreational marijuana and 33 have medicinal marijuana programs. It’s about time the rest of us caught up. We must end the unnecessary and harmful prohibition on marijuana.
Sign here to demand Congress end this injustice and legalize marijuana immediately. [[link removed]]
It’s time to act on this issue.
Thank you,
