As I watched President Biden's first address to Congress last night, I was reminded of the old saying: elections have consequences.

Because of the incredible work of so many organizers and volunteers, we elected a President and a Congress that are uniquely equipped to deliver on bold policies such as the American Jobs Plan and the American Families Plan. These plans will expand paid family leave, create millions of clean energy jobs, restore and upgrade our nation's infrastructure, and establish universal pre-K and free community college.

But had Republicans won just five more house seats last November, our chances to make incredible progress would not exist. And if they retake the House next year, we'll see nothing but painful gridlock and a Congress unwilling to address future challenges.
