April 2021 Dear friend,
Yom Ha’atzmaut Sameach – happy 73rd birthday, Israel!
It has been a busy April at Pro-Israel America. We continue the critical work of advancing the U.S.-Israel relationship by mobilizing our community of supporters to help elect pro-Israel members of Congress. We also continue to elevate the policy issues that matter most, such as vocally opposing recent calls from Senators Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Rep. Betty McCollum to add political conditions to security aid to Israel which are not only wrong, but dangerous. In fact, Pro-Israel America recently issued a statement, and I wrote about this very topic in the Times of Israel, both of which are linked below.
A big thank you for everything you are doing as part of our 150,000+ and growing community of grassroots activists. You are directly helping to ensure a strong alliance with our most important ally in the Middle East. As always, please help us reach even more people by asking your friends and family to join our critical work to strengthen America’s alliance with Israel.
Best, Jeff
Proposals to politicize our strategic funding alliance with Israel are wrong, dangerous, and would undermine America’s strategic alliance with our greatest ally in the Middle East — and we must oppose them.
At J Street’s conference earlier this month, both Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders made it very clear they support new, unnecessary restrictions on critical U.S. security assistance to Israel, a position shockingly endorsed and promoted by J Street itself. This follows on the heels of a new anti-Israel bill introduced by Chair of the House Appropriations Defense Subcommittee Rep. Betty McCollum, also supported by J Street, which directly aims to add unnecessary restrictions on U.S. aid to Israel. These moves to condition or restrict security assistance to Israel are just the latest in an ongoing effort to undermine Israel and the U.S.-Israel relationship.

Marcia Fudge, who is now Secretary of HUD, Pro-Israel America has endorsed Shontel Brown, a dynamic rising star who strongly supports the U.S.-Israel relationship. She is running against a candidate with very different views – one who seeks to limit security aid to Israel, won’t oppose BDS and wants to join The Squad. Pro-Israel America recently hosted Brown, who is a Cuyahoga County Council member, on an exclusive virtual meet and greet. You can support Brown’s campaign to Congress here. LA-2 SPECIAL ELECTION: Democrat Troy Carter won the April 24th run-off election and will represent Louisiana’s 2nd District in Congress.
NM-1 SPECIAL ELECTION: Pro-Israel America has reached out to Melanie Stansbury, the Democratic nominee favored to replace now-Secretary Deb Haaland in the heavily blue NM-1 open-seat race and looks forward to learning more about her views on the critical U.S.-Israel relationship. The general election between Stansbury and Republican candidate Mark Moores will be held on June 1. 🚨 ACTION ALERT 🚨 Ask your representatives to oppose Rep. Betty McCollum’s (D-MN) latest attempt to undermine Israel. U.S. security assistance to Israel is critical for peace, stability and Israel’s very survival. Rep. McCollum wants to add unnecessary restrictions on U.S. aid to Israel, which would put the security of our greatest ally in the Middle East at risk and heighten the threat to our own national security here in the United States. Discussion and Q&A with Elaine Luria (D) (VA-2) – Bipartisanship and Advancing the U.S.-Israel Relationship in Congress
Executive Director Jeff Mendelsohn joined PIA-endorsed Congresswoman Elaine Luria (D-VA02) on Tuesday, April 28th for an exclusive discussion and Q&A about national security, the importance of bipartisan support of the U.S.-Israel relationship, and what may lay ahead for security in the Middle East.

ICYMI: Shontel Brown, Candidate for U.S. Representative (D) (OH-11)
Pro-Israel America joined Councilwoman Shontel Brown for a discussion and Q&A on April 6 about the special election and her plans for furthering the U.S.-Israel relationship in Congress. The primary, which will likely determine the winner of the general election in this strongly Democratic district, will be held on August 3. A native Clevelander, Shontel began her service as a Warrensville Heights city council member in 2012. She went on to be elected to Cuyahoga County Council where she currently serves.
