This week marks 100 days since President Biden took office.

One of his first actions as president was directing his agencies to review many of the lawsuits Earthjustice brought against the previous administration. As these cases are being evaluated, we aren’t slowing down.

And so far, it has paid off. In the last month alone, we have secured a number of victories for the environment.
*This week, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ordered EPA to either ban a pesticide known to cause harm to children and workers, or keep only the uses that don't harm people. Earthjustice has spent years trying to get this pesticide, chlorpyrifos, off the market and this ruling by the court gets us one step closer, particularly because EPA's own scientists have said that chlorpyrifos is unsafe.: [link removed]

*Arctic and Atlantic oceans affirm regain protections from oil and gas drilling. This court win re-affirmed an Obama-era permanent moratorium on oil and gas leasing across 128 million acres of territory in the Arctic and Atlantic oceans.: [link removed]

*A court ruled in favor of the Ktunaxa Nation and other community partners in a case that is part of our decades-long effort to protect the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness from industrial mining in Montana. The ruling safeguards the most vulnerable grizzly bear population in the lower 48 states, threatened bull trout, and sacred and aboriginal lands of the Ktunaxa Nation.: [link removed]

*Big progress in the fight to clean up coal ash. Last week the Illinois Pollution Control Board made significant strides to rectify coal's toxic footprint in Illinois by finalizing coal ash regulations. The rules create a comprehensive framework for the detection and cleanup of coal ash contamination of groundwater. They are the first in the state’s history to specifically address this pollution.: [link removed]
