John,
Last night, Joe Biden centered his first address to Congress on lifting up
the policies women and working families in our country urgently need. His
call was clear:
“Let’s reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act, which has been law in
this country for 27 years since I first wrote it. It will close the
so-called “boyfriend” loophole to keep guns out of the hands of abusers.”
Biden also introduced his American Families Plan. This $1.8 trillion
proposal would give all Americans access to community college, preschool,
affordable child care and paid leave. Passing the American Families Plan
would have a PROFOUND impact on our lives and addresses the biggest
challenges women in our country face right now.
Republicans have made it clear already that they’re ready to fight and
block both of Biden’s proposals. So we need to make it clear that Women’s
Marchers are ready to fight even harder to bring these bills to life and
make sure women’s issues are prioritized in this administration’s agenda.
It’s increasingly urgent we reach our fundraising goal tomorrow night and

Our grassroots movement was born out of resistance to the rising tide of
racism, misogyny, and xenophobia— and together, Women's Marchers fought
and WON by electing President Biden and Vice President Harris and flipping
the Senate.
However, that doesn’t mean all of our problems are solved.
From the rise in hate crimes against women and communities of color, the
crisis of police brutality, and the coordinated attacks by the GOP on
bills like the Violence Against Women Act — there is ample evidence that
there is still a long way to go to make sure ALL women are safe and
protected.
That’s why Women’s March has been busy collecting signatures from women
all across the country to support the Violence Against Women Act and
planning pressure campaigns on Congress to demand they pass the urgent
policies women need to survive and thrive beyond this pandemic.
We know that this kind of organizing strategy works because it’s how we
won in 2020. But we also know that a large part of our success was because
we had the support of a grassroots movement chipping in what they can to
fund our work.
