Anglican Dominicans Launch in Puerto Rico

The Anglican Order of Preachers (Dominicans) accepted the vows of thirteen new members at a solemn Eucharist in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Puerto Rican house is expected to form the base for a significant expansion of the Dominicans throughout Latin American Anglicanism.

Youth-Focused Merger of Kansas Institutions

Saint Francis Ministries, a 74-year-old charity that provides services for at-risk young people in six states and two foreign countries, has acquired the campus of St. John's Military School, a 131-year-old boarding school. The two Episcopal-affiliated organizations are headquartered in Salina, Kansas, population 47,000.

New Primates Elected in Nigeria, S.E. Asia

The Church of Nigeria, the largest Anglican province aside from the Church of England, elected the Most Rev. Henry Chukwudum Ndukuba as its new primate. On the same day, the Singapore-based Anglican Church in South East Asia elected the Rt. Rev. Datuk Melter Jiki Tais.

Bishop Roundup: OK, VT, VA, W. Texas

The Diocese of Oklahoma announced a slate of three candidates for bishop coadjuter, the first African-American to serve as bishop of Vermont was consecrated, and a bishop suffragan in the Diocese of West Texas will become assistant bishop in the Diocese of Virginia.

Preparing for Communion

Eating flesh and drinking blood -- now that got my attention as a Methodist boy on communion Sundays. It impressed upon me that something utterly unique and special was happening when we knelt at the altar rail to receive Holy Communion, and planted seeds that would later lead me into ordained ministry as an Episcopal priest.
