John—
This week, we learned that the Supreme Court will hear its first Second Amendment case since Justice Amy Coney Barrett was confirmed. The NRA wants the Court to weaken concealed carry laws, which would allow more guns in public and endanger public safety.
We know that violent crime rates are up to 15% higher in states with weak concealed carry permitting laws. These weak laws have also been associated with an increase in handgun homicides. But what’s at stake here is even broader.
An adverse decision could upend gun safety laws across the country by changing the standard used to review these laws. If this happens, the gun lobby could attempt to re-litigate all the cases they’ve lost since DC v. Heller was decided in 2008.
We can’t let this happen.
Your support, regardless of the amount, will help us continue to take on the NRA and defend the hard-fought victories we’ve won in recent years.
Thank you,
Hannah
