Hi friend,

It’s been just a few weeks on the job as the new Executive Director of NextGen America, and I’ve loved meeting the team and looking to the future of mobilizing the youth vote. Leading the nation’s largest youth voter mobilization organization is an incredible privilege and a big responsibility.

At NextGen, we aren’t organizing to go back to supposedly better days, because we believe our best days are ahead. We have yet to live up to our full potential, to become everything that a country, as big, diverse, complicated, and beautiful as this one can be. *To do that, we need your support! Can we count on you to donate and help set a new direction for our country?* ( [link removed] )

During the 2020 election, NextGen’s work helped lead to the largest youth voter turnout in American history. We got 4.5 million young people to the polls, delivered Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan for Biden-Harris, and we flipped Arizona — where we spent the last four years registering and mobilizing hundreds of thousands of voters. But we know defeating Trump wasn’t the end, it was only the beginning of expanding this electorate.

With 2022 right around the corner, we’re gearing up to run our largest and most ambitious program to date in order to reach millions of new, young voters. The youth vote represents America’s future and includes some of the strongest advocates for progressive change. To tackle the climate crisis and set a more equitable, justice-centered path — we need to keep engaging these potential voters.

*Your donations help us reach new voters and fight for the progressive causes we believe in. Now is the time to set the foundation for winning future elections — will you make a donation today?*

During my first week on the job, NextGen partnered with Jolt Action (the Latino voting rights organization I founded in 2016) to drop over 250,000 rose petals representing all the young Texans of color that turn 18 every year, at the Texas Capitol Rotunda nineteen year old Tori Baltierra sang Amazing Grace. We did this in protest of voter suppression bills being introduced across the country and to show the power of young people of color who are determined to make their voices heard. Watch the clip below when I talked with Tiffany Cross on MSNBC about why we aren’t going to give up our right to vote without a righteous fight.

At NextGen we know that it has always taken the courage and imagination of young people to make our country tackle the biggest challenges we face, and our nation needs our courage again to tackle climate change, racial injustice, runaway inequality, and to save democracy itself.

*Will you chip in to make sure we have the resources we need to move forward with our plans and reach out to as many new voters as possible?* ( [link removed] ) *
*
Let’s do this!
