Last night,
President Joe Biden gave his first Joint Address to Congress. His speech
included popular idea after popular idea, many of which I will debrief
below.

But first, I want to be clear: These popular and progressive ideas made it
into last night’s speech because of the work and support of grassroots
activists like yourself.

When you support campaigns like mine, it allows me to go to work every day
and fight tooth and nail for policies that support working families, from
ending fossil fuel subsidies to raising the minimum wage.

[ [link removed] ]If you can, please consider making a donation to my campaign right now
so I can continue being a leading voice in Congress for working families.
Every dollar you give allows me to focus on fighting for our shared
progressive values.

Now, here are some important themes from Biden’s speech last night:

* “It’s time for corporate America, and the wealthiest 1%, to pay their
fair share.” YES! Let’s fund the IRS, enforce our existing tax laws,
and audit the ultra-rich so they pay the taxes they owe.
* Biden’s clear support of the PRO Act, which protects workers' right to
organize. ✊
* Passing H.R. 1 – which would end partisan gerrymandering, make
Election Day a holiday, overturn Citizens United, close the revolving
door between Congress and lobbying firms, and expand automatic and
same-day voter registration.
* Raising the minimum wage to $15/hr – a policy I have been spearheading
in Congress.
* Creating more jobs and infrastructure based in green energy, in an
effort to fight climate change.

Overall, Biden’s speech laid out a clear, progressive path forward for our
country. But that doesn’t mean it’s just going to happen.

This is why we fight –
so what may start as an idea, like a $15/hr minimum wage, can become a
popular one, and eventually a law. Now, we just need to stay loud and
continue our fight for these long-awaited policies.

I will continue to champion these policies through Congress, but I need
your support.

campaign by making your first donation today? We still
need to raise nearly $10,000 before tomorrow at midnight to meet our goal.
