Friend -- When Virginia Democrats won the majority in the General Assembly in 2019, turnout was unusually high, and quite a few races that put us over the top were extremely close. Here's what The Washington Post said at the time:
WaPo:
1: “Several results were still close after polls closed on the most expensive and most watched Virginia legislative races in years”
2: “[I]nterest groups … carpeted the state with money, boosting suburban legislative races to the spending level of congressional elections.”
3: “Officials reported unusually high turnout”

It's safe to say that in order to protect and expand our majority this year, we're going to need to make sure Virginians keep turning out in high numbers. But there are a couple of factors working against us: First, Virginia elections typically favor the party not in control of the White House. And second, turnout usually drops off significantly in the year after a presidential election.
One thing is clear: We have our work cut out for us if we're going to keep Virginia blue this November. That's why we've launched the Virginia Turnout Project, a collaborative effort with our national and statewide partners to turn out voters in every corner of the Commonwealth. But we’re counting on grassroots supporters like you to help us keep up our work!
If you're able, please make a donation today to help us reach our $20,000 end-of-month goal and keep the Commonwealth moving forward for ALL Virginians:
