When a Spiritual Leader Falls. Just because we’re not always surprised when it happens doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be deeply grieved. Moreover, it’s a great opportunity to take a look at our own hearts — hearts that are either prone to similar sins, or perhaps conversely, sins of pride, a judgmental spirit or an “I would never do that” self-righteousness. But there’s hope. God loves a broken and contrite heart (Psalm 51:17). In fact, the Bible says God never rejects someone who comes to him humbly in repentance. As we examine our hearts and actions, let’s also pray for our spiritual leaders. Satan doesn’t play. He’s hell-bent on taking us out — sometimes from the top down. God, have mercy on us.
