Tell Congress: Our Communities Deserve Protection From Toxic Chemicals

Dangerous PFAS chemicals make their way into our bodies from our drinking water and the everyday products in our homes. We must demand that Congress take action to end this crisis — we can't let this poisoning of our drinking water and our families continue.

We need 10,000 SIGNATURES to show Congress that we are united in our resolve to protect our communities from these harmful chemicals.

Friend — Right now, Congress has a historic opportunity to take bipartisan action to protect our communities' health and safety.

A group of chemicals known as perfluoroalkyls (or PFAS for short) have been linked to cancer, thyroid disease, and many other serious health problems.

The EPA's own scientists have determined that these chemicals are even more dangerous than previously thought and present distinct risks to pregnant women and children. Despite these red flags, companies continue to freely dump these chemicals into our drinking water and they are still used to manufacture everyday products.

The Trump administration refused to listen to the science and further regulate PFAS, but right now we have our best opportunity in years to eliminate these dangerous chemicals from our products and drinking water. But Congress will only act if they hear from thousands of their constituents. That's where you come in.

Will you be one of the 10,000 LCV supporters that we need to demand that Congress act to rein in PFAS and protect our families?

More than 95% of the U.S. population already has PFAS in their bodies. PFAS exposure is especially prevalent among low-income communities, which face food access issues and reliance on packaged foods that commonly contain PFAS, and communities of color, which are already more likely to be exposed to harmful industrial pollution.

A bipartisan group of 25 members of Congress have introduced the PFAS Action Act of 2021, which sets safety standards for PFAS contamination in drinking water, takes steps toward cleaning up existing contamination sites, and limits further PFAS pollution from industrial discharge.

These steps are an essential piece of the puzzle that will give our communities the peace of mind that their products and drinking water are safe from these harmful chemicals. Congress must hold companies accountable for the damage they are doing to our health and to the environment. But we need your help.

Will you take action today to demand that your members of Congress support the PFAS Action Act? Our goal is to send 10,000 messages from LCV supporters like you TODAY »

Thank you, friend, for your continued support for clean and healthy communities. We'll be in touch with more ways to take action for the environment and create healthy, safe and empowered communities.
