Friend --
In two days, Texans will head to the polls to elect new mayors, city council members, school board members, and municiplical officers.
It's difficult to stress just how important these elections will be. In the last couple months we've seen Republicans in our state push new voter suppression legislation. And news that our state gained two additional congressional seats already has Republicans gearing up for a fresh round of gerrymandering.
Nothing would send a stronger message about our resolve than flipping a ton of local seats to blue on May 1st.
I have endorsed a number of local candidates who I believe are equipped to go to bat for our underserved communities -- including Cydnei Drake for Carrllton-Farmers Branch ISD School Board, Roxanne Martinez for Fort-Worth ISD School Board, and Hosanna Yemiru for Dallas City Council.
All three candidates are ready to work for working families and students in our community, but they need some help in the final 48 hours before Election Day. I'm respectfully asking you to split a grassroots contribution of $3 to their campaigns.
If you've saved your information with ActBlue your contribution will process instantly.
These upcoming local elections are a continuation of what we started back in 2019. Texas is changing, and I know we're right on the cusp of reshaping this state -- and by extension our entire country -- for generations to come.
But that starts by doing the work, friend. It starts with local races for mayor, city council, and school boards.
Additional resources in the final 48 hours could mean an additional flight of digital ads, mailers, and more minutes on the phones to turnout voters. That can make all the difference.
Before time runs out, split a donation of $3 to Cydnei, Roxanne, and Hosanna today.
All my best,
Candace
