John,

Join your AFGE family on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 on the steps of the Supreme Court here in Washington, D.C. for a rally to protect the civil rights of all workers. The Supreme Court will hear three cases that will decide if LGBTQ working people are protected from discrimination by the Civil Rights Act of 1964’s prohibition on sex discrimination.

If the Supreme Court rules that LGBTQ working people are not protected, the impact will not only be detrimental to the LGBTQ community, but all working people who could be subjected discrimination based on an employer’s belief about how men and women should dress, behave and identify. Essentially, this means you could get fired for not conforming to an employer’s gender standards and it would be completely legal.

Please join us and hundreds of other activists as we rally outside the Supreme Court beginning at 8:00 a.m. It is vital that we show up in great numbers to say: "Don't rollback our rights!"

WHAT: Don't Rollback Our Rights rally
WHERE: Steps of the Supreme Court (1 First St. NE, Washington, DC)
WHEN: Tuesday, October 8, 2019 beginning at 8:00 a.m.

If you can't join us, you can still make your voice heard by calling your Senators and urging them to vote for the Equality Act. With the relentless attacks on LGBTQ equality, the need to pass the Equality Act to provide comprehensive federal protections for LGBTQ people nationwide is greater than ever.

We hope to see you in front of the Supreme Court on October 8th!

In Solidarity,

Jeremy A. Lannan
NVP for Women and Fair Practices
