Quick update on the critical progress we're making in Washington... This month, I introduced the Clean Commute Act in the House with Rep. Tony Cárdenas (D-CA). This bill is designed to provide funding for schools to transition from diesel buses to clean, zero-emission fleets.

John,

This month, I introduced the Clean Commute Act in the House with Rep. Tony Cárdenas (D-CA). This bill is designed to provide funding for schools to transition from diesel buses to clean, zero-emission fleets.

Communities across Connecticut and the nation are suffering from historically high rates of respiratory illnesses like asthma, and the numbers are even worse in underserved communities. My goals are simple: create a better future for everyone, including our kids – and that includes the air they breathe.

Introducing the Clean Commute Act was the first step in ensuring our children have the better future they deserve. Can you join our fight for a cleaner and healthier future?

The Clean Commute Act authorizes $25 billion over the next ten years to the EPA and the Department of Energy to work with school districts across the nation to transition their bus fleets from primarily diesel fleets to clean, efficient, zero-emission fleets. This legislation ensures that historically underserved communities are not left behind, setting aside 40% of the funding for bus fleets serving environmental justice communities.

I’m working towards a better future for everyone, no matter your background or zip code. While I’m staying focused on my work in CT-05 and D.C., my campaign team is working on a strong 2022 campaign. With only 17 months until our next election, it is important to build a strong base now. Can you help my campaign team hit their April fundraising goals? We need your support in this fight for a better future.

We won’t stop our fight, and we are so grateful for your support.
