John: The U.S. Census Bureau released new population data for the past decade, and Washington, D.C.’s growth rate nearly TRIPLED at 14.6%.

Here are some key stats to know:

• Nearly 700,000 people call our nation’s capital home.
• D.C.’s growth rate is the seventh highest in the entire country and nearly double the national rate.
• D.C. now has a larger population than Wyoming, Vermont, and at this rate, it could be larger than Alaska by 2030.

Last week, the House passed my bill to make D.C. our country’s 51st state, and now, the new Census numbers strengthen our case for statehood even more.

If you haven’t already, sign our petition and show your support for making D.C. our country’s 51st state and give long overdue representation to the nearly 700,000 tax-paying Americans who live in D.C.
