Without mandating measure sets for reporting, how can profilers identify hospital peer groups based on the measures they report so that comparisons are made among hospitals that take the same (or similar) tests? Jeanette Chung and coauthors addressed this question by exploring a simple approach that segments hospitals in the star ratings program into groups of hospitals that took similar tests—that is, reported similar measures, numbers of measures, and denominators. A CLOSER LOOK—Vaping

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intensified its warnings about the risks of vaping, as the number of patients with vaping-related illness continues to climb.
