The last week has been outstanding. The launch of this campaign for governor to build a more equitable Maryland has been more exciting than I could have imagined. I have been overwhelmed by the support of so many of my fellow Marylanders. As we said in our launch video, wouldn’t it be great if we had a teacher as governor, and I could not be more excited that so many Marylanders agree!
The great thing about a teacher as governor is that teachers know how to listen, build relationships, and see each student as a whole person with unique needs. Isn’t that how a governor should think? I will work every day as governor to make sure that Annapolis is listening to Marylanders and tackling the systemic injustices that hold back opportunity from too many Marylanders.
But to succeed in electing a teacher for governor, I need enthusiastic grassroots support. That’s why my team has set our first fundraising goal of the campaign: an April end-of-month online goal of raising $75,000. Will you bring us closer to reaching this initial goal?

I know election day seems far away, but meeting this goal will set the tone for the rest of our race. We need to make it clear that we are in this campaign to win it!
In Maryland and across the country, people know how important it is to invest in closing opportunity gaps. Together, we share a common interest in enacting progress, addressing inequities, and making our future more just.
If you believe in this movement as much as I do, I would be immensely grateful if you can contribute. We have a big goal of $75,000 to meet by the end of April, and we’re going to need you to be a part of achieving it.
