John,

Trump's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is attacking your state's right to protect your water.

EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler has signed a newly proposed rollback of Clean Water Act protections. His goal: to stop states from being able to protect their waterways and communities from fossil fuel pollution and climate change.

This is absurd — the safety of our water and communities should not be considered secondary to the profits of the fossil fuel industry!

Tell the EPA to safeguard clean water protections!

The Clean Water Act sets a strong, simple standard that polluting our public waterways is illegal.

But the Trump administration has time and again attacked our fundamental environmental protections, putting the interests of dirty energy before the safety of your air, water and the future of the planet. And this now includes rolling back the Clean Water Act. Tell the EPA not to roll back our Clean Water Act protections!

Section 401 of the Clean Water Act gives states, as well as many tribes, the power to protect their waterways from projects that would impact water quality. This is a powerful tool for states to ensure that big infrastructure projects — like pipelines, dams and power plants — don't have devastating impacts on local waterways.

The EPA's proposal would severely limit what kind of water impacts a state can consider, forcing states to ignore some of the biggest water quality impacts of dirty infrastructure projects.

Tell EPA: Protect Our Water

Food & Water Action will pursue all available tools — legal, legislative and otherwise — to ensure that states maintain the power to reject dangerous, polluting fossil fuel projects within their borders.

But we need you to speak up for clean water protections and tell the EPA to stop this attack!

At a time when we must turn decisively away from climate-killing fossil fuels, this attempt by the Trump administration to ease the path for new oil and gas pipelines is simply reckless and foolhardy.

Together we can fight for key protections to our water. And with you on our side, we won’t back down. Please join us in fighting for your state’s right to protect its waterways!
