Disturbing Trend: Study Finds Internet Sex Predators Are Grooming Children to Record their Own Abuse and Film Siblings and Friends
The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) released a study last month revealing:
- 511 self-generated child sexual abuse images and videos assessed were determined to involve siblings.
- That’s 8 images or videos each working day.
- In 65% of cases, one or both children engaged in direct sexual contact with the other.
(Study snapshot includes the three months between September 28 and December 23, 2020).
Analysts said these children were manipulated or coerced into sexual activity by adults online via a live stream and that these videos and snapshots were subsequently shared widely using a variety of different web platforms.
Children as young as three years old appeared to be involved in abuse. The average age of the youngest sibling was 10 and the eldest 12. For more information on grooming tactics and how to talk to your kids about internet predators, visit Predators 101.

The Damage Has Already Been Done.
It's no coincidence, MindGeek-owned Pornhub released its first-ever "transparency report" this month --despite its internet launch 14 years ago-- following the explosive New York Times article "The Children of Pornhub," and after being grilled by a Canadian Parliament in February for repeated allegations and reports of facilitating and profiting from child sex abuse content, and non-consensually recorded and distributed pornography.

Pornhub's report is riddled with irony and inconsistencies. For starters:

Pornhub COO David Tassillo recently testified: "every piece of content, before it's actually made available on the website, goes through several different filters..." including human moderation efforts, as testified by MindGeek CEO Feras Antoon. So, how did 653,465 pieces of reviewed "potentially offending content" Pornhub reported as being removed globally make it onto the site in the first place? This content, the report states, includes: "content depicting a minor, non-consensual content, hate speech, content depicting animal harm, prohibited bodily fluids, incest, or violent content."

Pornhub boasts of its "zero tolerance policy against underage content or the exploitation of minors in any capacity." However, John Clark, CEO of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), testified to Canadian Parliament that Pornhub registered to report child sex abuse material as of March 2020. Pornhub made NO reports of child sex abuse to NCMEC in 2019.
A ZERO tolerance policy plus a ZERO reports = ZERO action!

The transparency report states: "Remember, a kink that LOOKS degrading or humiliating is NOT the same thing as an illegal, abusive, or non-consensual act." In other words, Pornhub will continue to wordsmith its language so as not to be held criminally liable for content showing rape or that deemed obscene by US law.
Bottom line: Please tell the Department of Justice put an end to this rampant exploitation. Our children deserve better protection! Please, sign our petition demanding they prosecute Pornhub and MindGeek for a trifecta of violations of existing obscenity, child pornography, and sex trafficking laws. We cannot let the porn industry blatantly dismiss US federal laws any more!
