We’re taking the subway to the Bronx and then traveling to Manhattan to meet more of our amazing candidates.

Over in the Bronx, meet Pierina Sanchez in District 14 (Morris Heights, University Heights, Fordham, and Kingsbridge). Pierina was born in University Heights and raised in Kingsbridge, and is an Afro-Dominicana, daughter of immigrants, NALpista, and lifelong Bronxite. She has a strong track record of advocating for progressive housing, economic development and land use policies, and resources for the New York City Housing Authority. Learn more about her here. Also in the Bronx is NALpista Amanda Farías in District 18—a lifelong Bronxite with a passion and commitment to public service. She is running to represent the neighborhoods of Soundview, Castle Hill, Parkchester, Clason Point, and Harding Park. She understands that a crucial role of new leadership is investing in local coalition-building, which develops healthier communities. Amanda is fully invested in ensuring that we adequately connect our communities to resources through her political work and local advocacy. Learn more about her here. Sign up to volunteer.

Making our way to District 5, meet Tricia Shimamura, who is running to represent the Upper East Side and Roosevelt Island. She is a mom, activist, and social worker dedicated to creating a New York City that works for all of us by uplifting working families, small businesses, and seniors. Tricia believes that no issue is too big, small, local, or citywide—whether it’s making sure trash gets picked up to fighting for critical repairs to the East River Esplanade, she will be a fighter for the community. Taking the train to District 1 in Lower Manhattan, resides longtime NALpista and our #1 ranked choice pick, Gigi Li. She was born in Hong Kong, and immigrated to New York City with her parents at a young age. For the past two years, Gigi has devoted her organizing, policy, and community experience to public service, as a chief of staff to a NYC Councilmember. If elected, Gigi will continue to champion racial, social, and budget equity. Learn more about her hereSign up to volunteer.

Also running in District 1 is our #2 ranked choice endorsee, Jenny Low. Jenny has been dedicated to improving the lives of the most marginalized in New York City for the last 30 years as an activist and District Leader. Learn more about her here. Sign up to volunteer.

Thanks for riding the subway with us! Be sure to make a stop to volunteer.

I’ll see you out on the pavement,
