Some happenings with RG!

Hi John,

Over the past few months, in the process of renaming and evolving our Giving Pledge, we solicited a wide range of feedback from member leaders. What was most powerful about our current pledge? What did people want to see change? The most consistent piece of feedback was that people wanted anything renamed with the word “Redistribution” to live up to that standard. In that spirit, we introduce our updated Redistribution Pledge & Guidelines

Read more about the specific changes here.

Ways to use the updated Redistribution Pledge & Guidelines:

  • Personal accountability: reflect on how your current giving reflects your access to wealth; make a multi-year giving plan that aligns with how you want to be taking action in the world; receive reminders to follow through
  • Collective accountability: ask other people (family, friends, school networks, etc.) to sign them; set chapter fundraising goals and use the pledge to help you track; help RG report to movement partners about how our members are taking action and what numbers we are moving collectively
  • Movement-building: talk about the Pledge in other spaces (philanthropy, organizing, and otherwise!); use it to bring more young wealthy and class privileged people into RG’s base; shift the conversation around what is possible in terms of redistributive policies and taxing the rich

Take action with us today by:

We look forward to taking powerful action toward redistribution together and continuing to evolve these tools with you.

Toward the equitable distribution of wealth, land, and power in our lifetimes,
Adam, Caroline, Iimay, Nicole, Nora, & the rest of the RG team
