The crisis at the border just keeps getting worse.

It’s a public health crisis, a humanitarian catastrophe, and a man-made disaster. And it has left us looking like an international disgrace.

I witnessed it all firsthand, while leading a congressional delegation to the southern border.

I was shocked and horrified by the stories I heard… young children huddled together on boats led by cartel members and human traffickers, babies and kids crammed like sardines in holding pens, overwhelmed Border Patrol agents struggling to manage an uncontrollable situation, and no end in sight to the multifaceted challenge that this crisis has created.

Yet, President Biden refused to call it a “crisis,” until very recently. Even then, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki walked back his comment, saying he “misspoke.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that “we're on a good path at the border under leadership of President Joe Biden."

And Vice President Kamala Harris, who was supposed to be the president’s point person for the border, is not at all focused on the border, according to the White House’s own press secretary.

Vice President Harris has NOT visited the border, citing COVID concerns, and insisting that suggestions that she should visit are purely political.

That’s ridiculous, considering that my colleagues in Congress, our friends at Independent Women’s Forum, and I raised concerns about COVID risks at the border from the outset.

Recently, I was able to get Dr. Fauci to admit under oath that the Biden administration is NOT following their own CDC requirements and guidance at the border.

There are NO travel health requirements or COVID screening for migrants illegally crossing the border. Worse, migrants are being boarded on planes to cities across the country without having to show proof of negative COVID test, vaccines, or IDs.

That is terrifying… and frustrating for Americans who still cannot see their families, travel, or return to school, work, or normal activities, because of government dictates and double standards.

President Biden will try to deny, deflect, and distract from these monumental failures in tonight’s Joint Address to Congress.

He will try to place the blame on my colleagues, and he will try to paint any potential COVID spike on you who have done your part to protect your community and families… while he puts us at our greatest risk yet with his reckless border policies.

This week marks President Biden’s 100th day in office, and it’s time he and his administration are held accountable for their irresponsible and dangerous actions.
