As we recover from the pandemic, we have a responsibility to rebuild our economy in a way that gives everyone a fair shot.

That’s why I'm so proud to be an original co-sponsor of the Raise the Wage Act of 2021, a bill that would raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour and end the subminimum wage for tipped workers -- which is currently a horrifying $2.13 an hour.

I participated in One Fair Wage’s “server for an hour” challenge earlier this month to support service workers and raise awareness for the bill. I was so grateful to be hosted by one of our local small businesses that is doing right by their workers. Here in California, we know that supporting our small businesses goes hand in hand with supporting our workers, and that every worker deserves the dignity of a livable wage.
