BREAKING: The Minnesota Senate just passed a bill that will ban Ranked Choice Voting.
We’re going all-in to protect our democracy and the next few days are critical. Dear John,
The Minnesota Senate continues down a path of taking our democracy backward.
Yesterday Senator Kent Eken moved to amend the Senate State Government Omnibus bill (SF 1831/HF 1952) to remove the ban on Ranked Choice Voting. Despite the valiant efforts of Sen. Eken and numerous democracy champions in the Senate, the majority voted to keep the anti-RCV measure in the bill. The bill now moves on to a conference committee with the House and the Senate where all measures in the bill will be negotiated.
We must continue to push strongly against this measure which is both anti-democratic and contrary to local control.
Thanks to donors like you, our organizing for democracy reform has not slowed, and your continued support will help us beat back efforts to reverse our incredible wins. We expect resistance like this on the road to progress, and with your support we will overcome it. Join us in making sure that the Minnesota Senate hears quickly and in no uncertain terms that they are on the wrong side of this issue and cannot block progress.
