Elizabeth Warren’s Empowering American Workers plan is already being called “the most ambitious labor platform of the 2020 campaign.” And for good reason. The plan she announced today would roll back decades of attacks on working people by the corporate class, including:
-
Guaranteeing the right to organize and go on strike to workers across the country
-
Expanding protections to all working people, including domestic, farm, and gig workers as well as graduate students
-
Ending worker misclassification as “independent contractors”
-
And banning so-called “right to work” laws
For decades before Donald Trump, Republicans have been at war with workers — and too many corporate Democrats haven’t stood up when it really mattered.
Elizabeth Warren has a plan for that. In the proposal released today, she declares that “returning power to working people will be the overarching goal of my presidency.”
But in order to enact a transformative pro-worker agenda like the one Elizabeth Warren is proposing, we will need to do more than win an election. We will need to build a grassroots movement — one that will go all-out to organize for our issues in this primary, to elect hundreds of pro-worker candidates up and down the ballot, and then to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with working people across the country to make it a reality. That work starts now.
Read the full plan here, then add your name to join the Working Families Party in support of Elizabeth Warren’s groundbreaking plan to empower American workers.
Together, we really can create a country that works for everyone, not just the wealthy few.
In solidarity,
Team WFP
