Dear Centner Academy Parents,
Thank you all for participating in last week’s series of events on the Elementary & Middle School Campus. From our Art Showcase, to Science Fair, to Open Mic and PE with Parents, we all had a blast and are so grateful to our faculty and staff for doing such an amazing job!
It was an eventful week that also included an important meeting among our faculty and staff where we shared the difficult decision that moving forward, until further notice, we ask any employee who has not yet taken the experimental COVID-19 injection, to wait until the end of the school year. We also recommended that all faculty and staff hold off on taking the injection until there is further research available on whether this experimental drug is impacting unvaccinated individuals. It is our policy, to the extent possible, not to employ anyone who has taken the experimental COVID-19 injection until further information is known.
This was not an easy decision to make. We made this decision with several doctors who are on the front line investigating the reported issues as described below. It was a consensus from our advisors that until this topic is investigated more thoroughly, it is in the best interests of the children to protect them from the unknown implications of being in close proximity for the entire day with a teacher who has very recently taken the COVID-19 injection.
We understand that this information is new and yet to be researched. In the absence of solid research, we feel it is prudent to take an abundance of caution and limit potential risk.
We are not 100% sure the COVID-19 injections are safe and there are too many unknown variables for us to feel comfortable at this current time. For example, tens of thousands of women all over the world have recently been reporting adverse reproductive issues from being in close proximity with those who have received any one of the COVID-19 injections, e.g., irregular menses, bleeding, miscarriages, post menopausal hemorrhaging, and amenorrhea (complete loss of menstruation). No one knows exactly what may be causing these irregularities, but it appears that those who have received the injections may be transmitting something from their bodies to those with whom they come in contact. We think we can all agree this is a new risk that may impact reproductive systems, fertility, and normal growth and development in women and children. Until more is known, we must err on the side of caution when it comes to the welfare of our students and school team.
I know many of you understand that we are 100% in favor of personal Health Freedom and “my body, my choice”. The only reason we are making this decision now is because of the potential impact of one person’s personal health decision on many other students and faculty. It is for this reason only that we are taking this action at this time. If it is determined that this information is inaccurate or unfounded, then we will gladly reverse our decision. We know not everyone agrees on this topic, but this is our philosophy at Centner Academy, one in which many of our teachers and parents share. The health and safety of our students has always been, and remains, our #1 priority at Centner Academy. Our responses and actions have consistently been out of an abundance of caution and thoughtful decision-making when risks to our children are presented. This includes physical as well as mental health risks.
For example, on March 16, 2020, at the very onset of COVID-19 in the US, Centner Academy was the first school in Miami, and one of the first in the country, to close in-person classes and fully pivot to online learning.
Subsequently, on September 8, 2020 we fully opened for the new school year in-person, while many schools around the country remained online, and still do to this day. We weighed the data and studied the research. We knew then that children have a 99.9974% survival rate and are not super spreaders. We also studied the increase in suicide rates and related emotional issues due to the lockdowns and children being required to remain learning online.
It is no secret that education systems around the world are facing challenges in preparing students to deal with the demands of unpredictable circumstances related to COVID-19. We will continue to work hard to make the best decisions to keep our children healthy and safe -- physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Sincerely,
Leila Centner
