Dear *|FIRSTNAME|*,
The time is now. We urgently need your support to help reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act. Will you contact your senators today and urge them to vote YES on VAWA?
As you know, the Violence Against Women Act is a significant piece of legislation in our fight against domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking.
Yet, in 2019, the United States Congress failed to reach a bipartisan agreement reauthorizing its standing. It has been expired for two years now, leaving survivors in the lurch.
On March 22, 2021, the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (H.R.1620) passed in the House of Representatives. But hurdles remain in the Senate.
Enough is enough. There should be no disagreement that passing this bill will help save lives. It will also increase funding for prevention efforts, improve victim protections, and equip service providers who work to support survivors.
Nearly half of the women we serve through our Live Your Dream Awards identify as survivors of abuse. Experiencing (and recovering from) violence is one of the biggest barriers that these women face on the path to education and empowerment.
Every second counts for women enduring unimaginable abuse. Please support our efforts today by sending a message to senators demanding movement forward on this vote.
