The leading voice for the 48 million American women living with or at risk of heart disease
Updated Red WomenHeart Banner

Hello John,

The prevalence of heart valve disease is rising. Yet women are still more likely than men to go undiagnosed and untreated. We need more awareness efforts and more reseach to address the gender disparities in heart valve disease.

Fortunately, new legislation helps address some of those challenges. The Cardiovascular Advances in Research and Opportunities Legacy (CAROL) Act invests in the research and outreach needed to make progress in the diagnosis and care of heart valve disease.

Ask your Members of Congress to cosponsor the CAROL Act

The bill provides funding to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) at NIH to address gaps in our understanding of heart valve disease, including what causes sudden cardiac arrest in a small number of people, predominantly women. The bill also invests in education efforts to broaden awareness of the risk factors and symptoms of heart valve disease and in efforts to increase screening, detection and diagnosis of heart valve disease.

Take action today!

Together we’re saving lives,
