In the past year, we’ve had to depend on our NHS like never before.
From the nurses and doctors to the paramedics, porters and cleaners to the Test and Trace call centre workers, so many have gone above and beyond the call of duty to fight the pandemic.
That’s why Boris Johnson's decision to increase spending on the military, whilst effectively cutting NHS nurses’ pay, is so shameful.
And that’s why CND will be hosting an online public meeting at 7pm tomorrow with nurses and activists to discuss how the tens of billions of pounds Britain spends every year on war-making could be spent on supporting the NHS.
This is before the tens of billions which will be spent on new nuclear warheads are factored in.
That’s why CND has joined a whole host of campaigning organisations taking part in the Global Days of Action on Military Spending. Because every pound spent on a tank, a warship or a nuclear warhead could be spent on a nurse, a hospital or a vaccine.
