New York is at an energy crossroads, so on September 19 Alliance for a Green Economy and Renewable Heat Now* campaign allies went to Albany to show the Public Service Commission the way forward. Your calls, letters, and postcards helped amplify the message: stop building gas infrastructure; fund the solutions!
We are returning to the Commission on October 17 with an even larger number of concerned New Yorkers to make sure the PSC heard our message.
October 17, 2019 Join us at the Public Service Commission meeting in Albany on Thursday, Oct 17 when we believe the PSC will finally announce the order for implementing energy efficiency. Hurrah or Horror Show? Be there for the big reveal! Then grab a bite to eat and join us for the press conference. Hold the PSC accountable to the public, not the utilities!

Update on Recent Events
September 19, 2019 New Yorkers from all over the state attended the September 19 Public Service Commission meeting in Albany to demand that the agency take more urgent and aggressive action to end utility company investments in fossil fuel infrastructure and power plants, and that customer money be redirected immediately into investments in energy efficiency, renewable electricity, and renewable heating. The meeting was followed by a press conference where members of the Renewable Heat Now campaign* and residents from impacted communities highlighted how the PSC's decisions affect the climate and the wellbeing of the people of New York. Media coverage includes PoliticoNewYork and WNYT News Channel 13. After the press conference we circled up and shared information about local fracked gas infrastructure issues.
September 20, 2019 We participated in Climate Strikes across New York. When the Albany Climate Strike March made a planned stop at Agency Building 3 on the Empire Plaza, we called out, in front of the crowd of 500+ marchers, the Cuomo-appointed PSC for their HUGE role in deciding how the utilities spend OUR money. We told the crowd that we are watching what the PSC does, we will continue to watch, and we will be back. And then we invited everyone to join us at the PSC meeting in October!
Over 800 postcards signed and more than 200 calls made More than 800 New Yorkers have signed our postcard or the on-line version (still open for additional signatures) emphasizing that renewable heating is necessary to meet our state's climate goals and that we want the PSC to direct NY's utilities to make renewable heat pump incentives available for ALL customers. We demand that the PSC order utilities to comply with the 5TBtu heat pump targets established by the state in the December 2018 order and not allow utilities to set goals below the 5TBtu floor.
We thank you for your advocacy. Please keep showing up; when we stand together, we will be heard!
