Read this email to learn about what your Attorney General is doing for you...
Hey friend, Emily Rossi here. I’m the Director of Digital Media at DAGA.
I make sure the Internet knows exactly what Democratic Attorneys General are doing to make our communities stronger, day-in and day-out (and they’re a pretty busy crew, so don’t ask about my weekly screen time).
With so much attention funneled into the White House and Capitol Hill, a lot of people don’t know what their AG does for them. Team, here’s what I tell them about these down-ballot champions: There’s one statewide elected official whose job is to look out for you, to be your watchdog against injustice, and that’s your state Attorney General.
Some days, I feel like our democracy is under nonstop attack. But like clockwork, every time a new threat arrives, Dem AGs are the first on the scene and the last to leave, working incredibly hard for our rights.
When GOP AGs tried to dismantle the Affordable Care Act and continued their attacks during the pandemic, Dem AGs were on the floor of the Supreme Court, defending the 130 million people with pre-existing conditions (like me!).
When radical GOP-led state legislatures rammed in hundreds of voter suppression laws, Dem AGs pressured Congress to pass H.R. 1, a sweeping set of voter protection laws to protect all of us at the polls, no matter where we live or who we are.
And when Dem AGs saw $1.6T of federal student loan debt crushing our communities, especially seniors and communities of color, they called on The White House and The Department of Education to act on student debt cancellation immediately.
Meanwhile, GOP AGs have been weaponizing their office against the very people they swore to protect, all to score points in a one-sided game of political checkers. They’re wholly unfit for office.
