John-
Today, the U.S. Census Bureau confirmed that the state of Texas will not get the resources or representation we deserve in Congress — and the blame lies directly at the feet of Governor Greg Abbott and all of the Republicans who failed to promote the census that left our state undercounted.
The two Congressional seat gain, though, underscores the importance of the minority population in our state and gives Greg Abbott and the Republicans controlling the legislature the chance to do the right thing. These leaders can use this opportunity to draw a legal and fair map rather than continuing their assault on minority Texans by engaging in extreme racial gerrymandering and producing discriminatory maps.
Now is not the time to collapse to political greed and racial hostility by engaging in intentional discrimination that violates the voting rights of Texans across the state. Now is the time to put partisanship aside and draw up fair maps that give all Texans, and the growing minority population, the representation they deserve. Fighting for YOU,
Marc
Growing up in Fort Worth’s historic Como neighborhood, Marc Veasey didn’t dream about being an elected official. He just hoped that he would one day be able to make a difference in the lives of his friends and neighbors. That simple goal has taken him all the way to the halls of Congress, where he is proud to represent not only the friends and neighbors he grew up with but hundreds of thousands of diverse voices across North Texas. Now, as Congressman for Texas's 33rd District Marc Veasey serves as the Chair of the Congressional Voting Rights Caucus and Co-Chair of the Congressional Blue Collar Caucus. Please consider making a contribution today to keep sending Marc Veasey back to Washington to fight for North Texas families.
