BREAKING: The Minnesota Senate just passed a bill that will make voting harder in our state.

We need to fight back. All eyes will be on us for the next 24 hours to show that we won’t stand for making voting harder.

Hi there:

This issue is personal for me. Years ago when my father moved to a new home in October during an election year, and lacked even a utility bill showing his updated address, the use of "vouching" is what enabled him to vote.

Vouching allows voters to prove that they live where they say they live by having a neighbor vouch for them under oath - but today the Minnesota Senate has passed a bill to outlaw this important and long standing tool for eligible voters.

All eyes will be on us to see how we respond. We need to make sure our message is getting out and that we’re protecting the vote. My re-election campaign as Secretary of State is part of that effort. I would be grateful for any help you can provide so that I can maintain my voice on these issues.

Vouching helps people who have moved their residence just before an election, people in nursing homes, people who are experiencing homelessness, and others who are eligible to vote but lack an ID showing their current residence.

Repeal of vouching is part of a coordinated national effort, fueled by dangerous conspiracy theories, that would make voting less accessible, less fair, and less likely. It would take us backwards.

I have stood up against the bill, and I will always work as hard as I can to remove barriers to voting.

To continue protecting and strengthening the right to vote, I could use your help. I hope you'll consider a contribution to my campaign so that I can continue to stand strong against cruel policies like the repeal of vouching→

Thanks for everything,

Steve
