Friend,
Last week, Virginia's governor signed legislation that will legalize marijuana in the Commonwealth by July 1. Jennifer is proud that her state is taking a momentous stand against drug policies that have caused deep racial inequities within our criminal justice system for generations.
Black Americans are nearly four times more likely than white Americans to be arrested for marijuana possession. As long as marijuana remains illegal at the federal level, the injustices of over-policing and over-incarceration will be perpetuated.
The movement across states to legalize marijuana must continue and must be amplified in order to affect change nationally. So we're calling on supporters to sign our petition demanding that the federal government legalize marijuana and expunge all marijuana-related convictions.
We need 100 people from your state to add their names and ensure that our call to action is heard. Will you join us?

It's time to roll back narrow-minded policies that have contributed to so many systemic inequalities. Too much is at stake not to act.
Jennifer is working diligently to make this change happen, and she hopes you'll be part of this movement.
