New changes to fare structure have been proposed by Port Authority:

  1. Free transfers for riders using ConnectCard stored-value
  2. Weekly & Monthly passes will shift to 7 & 31-day passes that start on the day you tap them instead of by the calendar-based schedule.
  3. The ConnectCard stored-value fare will increase to $2.75

A public comment period to give feedback on the proposal is open until May 5th. Review our talking points and give your feedback today.

These proposals are a good start, but they need to go further. The pandemic has made it blatantly obvious how essential public transit is for low-income people. But many of these riders will not receive any benefit from these changes. We need to pass these proposals quickly and move on to more systemic fare changes.

43 Organizations Sign-on to Support an Emergency Low-Income Fare Relief Pilot Program. Sign on your organization today!

There has never been any greater need nor any greater opportunity for the Port Authority to pilot an emergency low-income fare relief program. More than 40 organizations have signed on to a letter asking Port Authority to pilot a low-income fare program to allow greater community access to food, healthcare, jobs and a full recovery form COVID-19.
