John,
BREAKING: California Governor Gavin Newsom just directed state regulators to phase out new fracking permits by January 2024 and phase out oil extraction by 2045.
This announcement comes after years of pressure and dedicated organizing by Food & Water Watch, our allies, and thousands of supporters like YOU who want to ban fracking now!
This is significant. But we need to keep up the fight for a full ban on fracking — everywhere! Give to Food & Water Watch today to help make that happen.

While this news from Governor Newsom is significant in the fight to ban fracking, we still need to stay focused, because there’s more to do. Newsom’s plan doesn’t take effect until 2024.
Directing his regulatory agencies to take two and a half years to do what HE can do TODAY is a dodge. In the meantime, he continues to approve new permits for drilling and fracking. In total, Governor Newsom has approved 8,129 drilling permits since taking office. 85 percent of the people living within 2,500 feet of an oil well are Hispanic or non-white. These communities must not be left behind.
We need to keep fossil fuels in the ground in order to protect the planet and keep communities and families safe from the dangerous effects of fracking.
Give today to help keep communities safe by banning fracking EVERYWHERE.

We launched our campaign to ban fracking in California in 2012, and since then we’ve banned fracking in seven counties across the state. Plus, over the past few years, Food & Water Watch helped win fracking bans in Washington State, New York, and Maryland. We've blocked more than a dozen fossil fuel infrastructure projects around the country, including the Williams pipeline in New York and New Jersey. And in Pennsylvania, we've helped overturn all of Merrion Oil and Gas’s local fracking permitting.
None of this would be possible without the support of dedicated people like YOU.

Donate today to say YES, WE CAN — AND WILL — BAN FRACKING everywhere!
