Friends,

I write this morning to thank you for helping Delegate Wendy Gooditis and to update you on the September County Board meeting.

First, THANK YOU: we raised $6,269 to help Wendy at Mary Hynes home last Sunday. Your support in doing so means so much to me as we seek to turn Virginia Blue in her critical race. Wendy's flowers below are a fitting thanks.
Wendy's flowers to thank us for raising $6,269 to help turn Virginia Blue by winning on November 5th.
I am so grateful for your tolerating the additional emails and helping raise the resources Wendy needs to win. Her story is our story. If she wins, we win. I committed to $7,500 and we are 86% there. We have kept the link open, so if and only if you can chip in to finish the last $1231, please click below. Regardless, know that I am so grateful for what you have already done.

As you may remember from my earlier emails this month, the Arlington County Board passed the Community Energy Plan and an Equity Resolution, both of which are at the heart of our shared ideals. We took three other steps that are central to the commitment we made last year to pursue inclusive economic growth.

First, the Board held a joint meeting on Amazon with the Alexandria City Council. In it, we focused on housing affordability, workforce development and inclusive economic growth. It was an excellent conversation that is an example of local governments working on exactly what we should: equity. I am focused on follow through.

Second: the redevelopment of the Holiday Inn site in Rosslyn. This Rosslyn project includes a modern conference center which we do not currently have and significant contributions of $4.5 million to affordable housing, $5 million for redesign of Gateway Park, and a LEED Gold certification to make sure the building is energy efficient.

The third step toward inclusive growth: the project on Columbia Pike and South Glebe, which is an important redevelopment that the neighborhood supported. I voted with each of my colleagues in favor of the project because a strong economy is not inevitable and inclusive growth on the Pike is critical.

All this made for a busy September. We also announced 3 more recycling centers for glass, which I can share with you if you ask via email.

I also have been working on a number of other constituent service projects in an effort to serve. As I do, I ask you to join me in recognizing that the decisions voters make in 32 days in Virginia's statewide elections will have huge repercussions for Arlington's ability to strengthen the American Dream and could, if we turn Virginia Blue, spark the change we so desperately need for our country.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve & let's do all we can to win on November 5th,

Matt
