Friend,

Most Americans support the Green New Deal, but the pundits on CNN and
MSNBC all say it'll never happen.

Even larger majorities support Medicare for All, but corporate media say
that's impossible, too.

Reducing income inequality. Ending the student debt crisis. Fixing the
climate emergency.

All of these ideas are popular with voters, but every day, the corporate
media tells us that "it's too expensive, it's not practical, so just
forget about it and move on."

This is the wealthiest country in the history of the world.

The problem isn't that we can't afford to tackle our big problems. It's
that the 1% doesn't want to pay its fair share—and the same corporate
interests lobbying against these common-sense proposals are calling the
shots at the major corporate news outlets whose coverage defines the
range of "what's possible" in our national debates.

That's why we started Common Dreams in 1997—to create an independent
news outlet that would report on the interests of the 99%.

We reject the corporate media's narrative. We believe we CAN make a
better world. And every day, we're here reporting the news to help make
it possible.
