Charities USA: The online magazine of CCUSA

The latest issue of Charities USA focuses on how Catholic Charities
agencies engage with Catholic schools.

[link removed]

You will learn ways Catholic Charities agencies interact with
students: by providing mental health/counseling services and offering
service projects that help the community. For example:

* The School Mental Health Program at Catholic Charities Omaha
that helped a young student deal with thoughts of suicide;

[link removed]

* And the Miracle Projects program of Catholic Charities
Community Services in Phoenix, Ariz., through which a student raised
money to support affordable housing.

As Allison Cavazos, associate director of parish relations at Catholic
Charities Central Texas, said in her article, "Our young people
offer unique talents and perspectives, and they are ready to change
the world for the better."

The stories in this issue remind us that the service of charity will
continue if we have succeeding generations of people who are happy and
healthy, and who know and practice their faith, which Jesus said
consists in this: Love of God and love of neighbor.

Ministering to workers in the time of COVID for parish social
ministers

The coronavirus pandemic has struck working families especially hard:
millions of essential workers remain on the job at risk of infection
while millions of others have been displaced from work and are at risk
of poverty and homelessness. These are our parishioners and the people
we serve in our other ministries - how much do we know about
what they have experienced during this time? The Catholic Labor
Network, supported by a grant from the Catholic Campaign for Human
Development, has created a short 1.5 hour zoom-based program for
Catholic Charities USA on "Ministering to Workers in the Time of
COVID." In the program we take testimony from workers impacted
by the pandemic and explore together its implications for our
ministry. Besides the workers themselves, presenters will include Fr.
Ty Hullinger, Pastor of St Anthony of Padua Church in Baltimore and
consultor to the US Conference of Catholic Bishops' CCHD
Subcommittee; Adrian Flores, Director of the Office of Social Concerns
in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles; and Clayton Sinyai, Executive
Director of the Catholic Labor Network. May 7, 2021, 2:00 - 3:30 pm
EST. Register here.

Grant Opportunities and Resources

WIC 101 Webinar - A presentation for Catholic Charities agencies

The Foundation for Financial Planning is accepting grant applications
(until April 30th, 2021) from nonprofit organizations whose

comply with COVID-19 safety guidelines. Grants are generally in the
range of $5,000 to $40,000. For more information about eligibility and
how to apply, please visit here. Nonprofits seeking to connect

on FFP's Pro Bono Planner Match website. On Pro Bono
Planner Match, nonprofits can post volunteer opportunities that engage
financial planners in one-on-one or interactive, small group (virtual)
