Hello John,
I'd like to update you regarding our ongoing engagement with the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DECDIY) regarding the Covid-19 Guidance for Youth Organisations on behalf of the youth sector.
To provide clarity around the interpretation of the recently issued guidance a section has been added today (see page 5 of the guidance) highlighting that:
- In line with the Minister OGorman’s Letter from January 5th, crisis work can operate indoors, delivered in line with prevailing public health restrictions, and should only take place where mandated by the most senior management of the youth service.
The addition reads:
*As per the letter published by the Minister on January 5th, essential youth work support, focused on at-risk, vulnerable young people or young people in crisis, may continue in person. It is expected that the nature of this work will predominantly involve one to one or very small group work. Such essential youth work should be delivered in line with prevailing public health restrictions and should only take place where mandated by the most senior management of the youth service. Numbers involved should be kept to an absolute minimum and should never exceed groups of 6. Outdoor options should be utilised in all cases where available and feasible.
Hopefully this now allows those of you working with vulnerable young people in these conditions, to continue your important work safe in the knowledge that you are fully compliant with the guidance.
Please let me know if you have any further queries.
Warmest regards,
Mary
