Friend,
As a nonprofit, progressive news site, we don't accept ads, charge subscription fees, or sell our readers' data.
Instead, we pay the bills through voluntary donations from our readers. Some of those donations come from emails like this. But a lot of them come from people who visit our website and click the "donate" button at the end of a news story.
That's why it was so troubling when, last May 4, the number of visitors to Common Dreams from Google searches suddenly fell off a cliff. It's bad enough that fewer people were reading our news stories. But when visits to our website crashed, donations fell sharply as well.
Then, on August 8, our concern turned to near panic when traffic from Facebook's news feed crashed as well.
With the two biggest sources of internet traffic suddenly directing people away from Common Dreams, it's not an exaggeration to say our entire funding model is in danger.
To continue providing news that informs and inspires action, we need our readers to step up right now. The end of our Spring Campaign is fast approaching. Will you donate now to help reach our goal?
