‌ ‌Any day now, a new iPhone update will allow users to opt out of cross-app tracking from apps like Facebook. This invasive cross-app surveillance allows Facebook to pry into your activity and data across your phone.

We’re taking the fight straight to Mark Zuckerberg by launching ads on his very own platform to make sure everyone knows how to opt out of their cross-app tracking on iPhones. Can you chip in a few dollars to help us reach as many people as possible? >> [link removed]

We’re proud to be a part of the Ban Surveillance Advertising Coalition’s grassroots education and mobilization effort to help #EveryoneOptOut of Facebook’s cross-app tracking.

The upcoming iPhone software update has amplified tensions between Apple and Facebook. On a recent earnings call, Mark Zuckerberg said “we increasingly see Apple as one of our biggest competitors,” accusing Apple of using its technology to interfere with Facebook’s apps.

Apple CEO Tim Cook later said: “Technology does not need vast troves of personal data, stitched together across dozens of websites and apps, in order to succeed. Advertising existed and thrived for decades without it.”

Corporate jockeying amongst Big Tech rivals won’t solve our problems, but this is a moment we can cut down on Facebook’s toxic business model of surveillance advertising. By following your activity on your phone, Facebook captures your personal information and leverages it to hyper-target you with content and advertisements -- creating a vicious cycle that falls prey to extremism and misinformation all to the benefit of Facebook’s bottom line.

Can you chip in to help us broaden the reach of our ads on Facebook and make sure more people know how to opt out of Facebook’s toxic and manipulative cross-app tracking? >> [link removed]

Together, let’s cut down on the mass-monetization of our personal information and continue the fight to ban surveillance advertising.

Thanks for your support,

The Accountable Tech Team
