Dear Friend,

[ [link removed] ]Trump appointees are still filling key positions all over the federal
government, including at Social Security. Will you sign the
petition urging Biden to fire them?

Social Security Administration Commissioner Andrew Saul, and his deputy,
David Black, are two of the worst of Trump's appointees. They're still in
office and will be there until 2025—where they can continue undermining
Social Security from within.^1

A whistleblower came forward recently from within the Social Security
Administration and warned that Saul and Black were putting illegitimate
pressure on SSA judges to wrongfully deny people with disabilities their
earned Social Security benefits.^2

Demand Progress is mobilizing grassroots pressure calling on President
Biden to weed out Saul, Black, and every last Trump political appointee.
Can you send an urgent message right now?

Andrew Saul has been orchestrating a severe underfunding of the agency
that has resulted in field office closures and customer service
cutbacks—resulting in long phone lines and people not getting the checks
they need.^3 He's also worked to undermine the SSA's union in an effort to
get rid of it entirely.^4

Saul and Black want to dismantle our Social Security system out of an
ideological drive. Goings on at the Social Security Administration are
often a low priority for Democrats in the White House―President Obama kept
George W. Bush’s SSA commissioner through his entire first term. Congress
never confirmed a successor, leaving a vacancy for Trump to fill.
President Biden must not make the same mistake.

Biden has the power to directly fire Saul, Black, and nearly all of
Trump's political appointees, a power recently reaffirmed up by the
Supreme Court. But it won't happen without a public outcry. Biden has
shown he is responsive to public pressure, especially for good causes like
this. Can you add your name today?

[ [link removed] ]Add your name: Tell Biden to fire Trump's remaining appointees!

Thanks for standing up for Social Security.
