We're in uncharted territory.

Never before have the National Republicans spent this much money this early in the election on TV ads smearing Democrats like me with outright lies.

No one knows what kind of impact $10 million worth of negative ads will do this far out.

But I'm not waiting to find out.

I'm fighting right back by having our campaign go on the air with a positive TV ad that highlights the work we've done in New York's 19th District. Take a moment to watch the ad and then chip in $5 or more to help us keep it on the air:

We don't believe in relying on lies, negativity or hate to make a point. We believe in the power of truth, integrity and love.

In our response ad, we're showing the work -- the 24 town halls we've done and the important legislation we've gotten signed into law to protect farmers and working families.

Winning this election in the face of unprecedented spending and outlandish lies from the other side, will take us all standing together in moments like this to ensure that the people know the facts and the work being done.

We can't afford to let the smear tactics go unchecked, no matter how early the attacks come. With the stakes as high as they are, every moment counts -- including the one we are in right now. I'm not prepared to give an inch -- not when it comes to standing up for our values and defending our democracy.

I can't tell you how long their smear campaign will last, but I can tell you we need the resources to fight and stay on air for as long as it takes.
